Thomas Heatherwick Staircase
Again, a creative execution to the problem that a store was on the first floor and people, especially when carrying shopping bags don’t like to climb stairs. Heatherwick stated that he tried to make the staircase appear to flow upwards as if carrying the person, and I think the final execution does just that

this staircase is great, at first i thought they were expecting people to slid down it, but now i see. There products produced are always of such greatness both visually and in the engineering of the desings. I particulary like the bridge one below, so clever, have you seen the Harvey Nicholls window display…amazing.

I love functional pieces of art! As Holly said, a juxtaposition of Engineering and Design. As well as the idea of the stairs taking people up, it is also visually interesting so when people are walking up them, their mind is taken off the fact that they are doing so.
